When the exhibition centre is running, this district fills overnight.
Bang Na sits at the south eastern edge of Bangkok where Sukhumvit Road meets the Bang Na Trat highway and the expressway network, and it is dominated by things built at a scale the inner city has no room for.
What Bang Na books most
Ordered by what people here actually choose, rather than by our menu. Every one is worked on your own bed with sheets and oil the therapist brings with her.
Deep tissue massage
Slower and heavier than an oil massage, aimed at the knots underneath rather than the surface. Say the word at any point and she eases off.
DetailsTraditional Thai massage
Stretching and acupressure along the body's energy lines, worked through clothing without oil. Firm, and on tight muscles it can smart. Worked on your bed, so there is nothing to clear.
DetailsRelaxing oil massage
Long, even strokes with warm unscented oil. The most straightforward thing on the menu, and the one to pick if you simply want the tension gone.
DetailsOffice syndrome massage
Targeted work on the neck, shoulders and upper back for people who sit at a desk all day. The one to book if your pain has a laptop-shaped cause.
DetailsCoconut oil massage
Cold-pressed coconut oil rather than the standard blend. Lighter on the skin, absorbs rather than sitting on top, and it is what most Thai therapists use on themselves.
DetailsAromatherapy massage
The same slow work as an oil massage, with a scented blend chosen for what you need. Lemongrass to wake up, lavender to sleep. Most people book this one at night.
DetailsBITEC, the main exhibition and convention centre for Bangkok, is here. So are two of the largest shopping centres in Thailand, a run of large-format retail along the highway, and the beginning of the industrial and logistics corridor that runs east toward the eastern seaboard.
The accommodation follows the exhibition centre. A cluster of business hotels serves the trade show and conference traffic, and beyond those it is residential: condominium towers along the BTS, housing estates behind, and a substantial suburban population spread over a very large area.
The BTS reaches Bang Na and continues to Samrong and beyond, which helps, but the district spreads a long way inland from the line and most of it is reached on the road.
For us this is a district with an unusual demand pattern. It is quiet for weeks and then a major exhibition opens and it becomes one of our busiest addresses overnight.
Trade shows, and the only thing that fills this district
Most districts have a rhythm you can predict from the clock: busy in the evening, quiet at the weekend, or the reverse. Bang Na does not work that way at all, and the exhibition calendar is the only thing that matters.
When BITEC has a major show running, the hotels around it fill completely, and a substantial share of those guests are exhibitors who have spent ten hours on their feet on a concrete hall floor building or manning a stand. That is a very specific complaint and it arrives in volume.
During those weeks the evening slots here are contested in a way they never otherwise are, and a day of notice is worth having. Outside them the district is quiet and an hour is plenty.
If you are here for a show, book the first treatment when you arrive rather than after the first day. Everybody has the same idea on the second evening and that is the night the slots run out.
Nothing here changes with the day of the week. It changes with the exhibition calendar.
The exhibitor complaint
Working a trade show is more physically punishing than almost anybody expects, and the pattern of complaint it produces is consistent enough to describe in advance.
What it is
Ten hours standing on a concrete hall floor, frequently in poor shoes, with lifting and carrying during setup and teardown. The result lands in the feet, calves, lower back and shoulders in roughly that order.
The treatment
Deep tissue is usually right, worked from the legs upward rather than starting at the neck. Say that you have been standing all day and she will structure the hour accordingly.
The timing
Book for after the hall closes rather than the middle of the day, and take ninety minutes rather than sixty if it is the second or third day of a show. By then the legs alone will absorb the first half hour.
Multiple bookings
For a team, tell us how many people and we will send enough therapists to cover the group rather than one person working through everybody in sequence.
Getting here, and why it takes an hour
Forty-five to seventy minutes is the honest range for this district and it is the longest we quote anywhere except the far end of Bearing. It is worth explaining rather than just stating.
The distance is real. Bang Na is a long way from the centre of Bangkok, and the BTS journey alone from the middle of the city takes a substantial part of an hour before anybody has walked anywhere.
The road is the other half. Bang Na Trat and the Sukhumvit approach both carry expressway traffic and both are slow in the evening, and there is no alternative route that helps.
The one thing that genuinely changes it is notice. With an hour of warning we can route a therapist already working in the east or south of the city and the journey is much shorter. With fifteen minutes we are sending somebody from wherever she is, and from the centre that is a long way.
Late is better here as it is everywhere in the east. After ten the roads clear and the estimate improves noticeably.
What Bang Na books
Deep tissue, from standing rather than sitting
Deep tissue leads here and the cause is standing. Exhibition work, retail work in the malls, and warehouse and logistics work in the corridor east all produce the same lower body and lower back pattern rather than the neck complaint an office generates.
Traditional Thai in the residential estates
Traditional Thai is strong in the residential parts, where the population is largely Thai and the stretching is simply what a massage is understood to be. It is the default choice out in the estates in the way it is across most of suburban Bangkok.
Oil massage for exhibition guests
Straight oil massage comes from the exhibition hotels and is the choice of somebody who wants something uncomplicated at the end of a long day rather than corrective work.
Longer treatments across the board
Long treatments do well here for the same reason they do at Bearing. Having waited an hour for a therapist to arrive, most people would rather not be finishing sixty minutes later, and the ninety outsells the sixty.
The malls, and the retail population
Two of the largest shopping centres in the country sit in this district and between them they employ a great many people, which gives Bang Na a working population quite separate from the exhibition traffic.
Retail staff work long shifts standing, finish late, and produce exactly the same complaint the exhibition workers do. A meaningful share of our residential bookings here come from that group, and they cluster after the centres close.
The malls themselves are also the landmarks everybody uses, and unlike the shopping centres at Siam they work reasonably well as landmarks because there are only two of them and they are enormous.
What they are not is an address. Near Mega Bangna covers a very large area including several hotels and a number of housing developments, so the building name is still what we need.
Therapists who cover Bang Na
Every one of them trained in Thailand and holds a Ministry of Public Health licence. You get told who is coming before they knock.
The residential side
Away from the exhibition centre and the malls this is an ordinary suburban district and most of our repeat work comes from it.
Condominiums on the line
Condominium towers along the BTS between Bang Na and Bearing are the easiest addresses. Modern buildings, staffed desks, and the shortest arrival times in the district.
Housing estates
Housing estates spread inland from the main roads, gated with a guard at the entrance, and the guidance about naming the estate and having your phone to hand applies exactly as it does at Lat Phrao.
Older housing
Older housing and shophouses sit along the original Sukhumvit frontage and on the smaller sois, and those addresses need a physical description rather than a name.
Access
Whichever it is, a pin genuinely helps out here. The district is large, the estates are numerous and several of them have similar names.
Booking around a conference
If you are here for an event at the exhibition centre, a few things will make the booking work better than it otherwise would.
Book on arrival, not on the second night. Exhibition weeks are the only time this district is busy and the second evening of a show is when everybody has the same idea at once.
Give us the hotel name rather than the venue. The exhibition centre is not an address you can be treated at, and several hotels sit within a short walk of it.
Ask for deep tissue and mention the standing. It changes which muscles she works on and it is the single most useful sentence in the message.
Take ninety minutes from the second day onward. By then the legs need most of an hour on their own and a sixty will leave you choosing between them and your shoulders.
For a group, send one message with the number of people, the rooms and the times. Three or four therapists to one hotel takes arranging and it is much easier as a single booking than as four separate ones.
The logistics corridor, and the shift population
East of this district the Bang Na Trat highway runs out toward the industrial and logistics belt that serves the eastern seaboard, and a share of that workforce lives here rather than further out.
Warehouse work, freight handling and factory shifts produce a complaint pattern that has nothing to do with desks. Lower back from lifting, shoulders and forearms from repetitive handling, and feet from concrete floors over long shifts.
Those shifts do not follow office hours either. A share of our bookings in this district come at six or seven in the morning from people finishing a night shift, and at two in the afternoon from people who started at five.
Deep tissue at the heavier end is what gets asked for, and telling the therapist that the cause is lifting rather than sitting genuinely changes which muscles she spends the hour on. Say it when you book rather than at the door.
Where Bang Na ends
Westward along Sukhumvit it runs back toward Udom Suk and Bearing, which are covered on their own pages and are marginally closer to the centre.
Eastward the Bang Na Trat highway heads out toward Samut Prakan, the airport and eventually the eastern seaboard. We cover a considerable distance in that direction and the window lengthens as you go.
Northward the roads run up toward Srinakarin, Punnawithi and the Phatthanakan area, which is a mixture of housing and light commercial that is easier to reach than the highway suggests.
Southward it reaches down toward the river mouth and the industrial fringe, which is the furthest we routinely travel and worth booking well in advance.
The expressway is the thing that defines movement here rather than any boundary on the ground, and naming your nearest exit or interchange genuinely helps us route the journey.
Price at the edge of the city
This is one of the two furthest districts we serve and the distance question comes up constantly, so the answer is worth stating clearly.
The treatment itself does not cost more out here. Sixty minutes of deep tissue is nine hundred baht in Bang Na exactly as it is at Nana, despite the journey being three or four times as long. What Bang Na does carry is the transportation support fee, because this is well outside the seven kilometre free radius, and it is quoted inside your total before anybody sets off rather than mentioned at the door. There is no minimum booking and no surcharge for an exhibition week.
What distance changes is the wait, which we quote at forty-five to seventy minutes rather than pretending it is the same as an inner district. That honesty is the trade for the flat price.
Nothing is taken at the time of booking and no deposit is held. Payment happens at the end in cash, by card or by PromptPay, and it is the figure from your confirmation message.

Questions about Bang Na
- Is Bang Na too far for you?
- No, though it is one of the two longest journeys we make at forty-five to seventy minutes. Nothing is added to the bill for the extra kilometres. What matters far more than where you are is how much notice you give us, because that determines who we can send.
- I am exhibiting at BITEC. What should I book?
- Deep tissue, and say that you have been standing on a hall floor all day. That changes the whole structure of the hour, working from the legs upward rather than starting at the neck. Take ninety minutes from the second day of a show onward.
- When should I book during a trade show?
- On the day you arrive rather than after the first day of the show. Exhibition weeks are the only time this district is genuinely busy, and the second evening is when everybody has the same idea at once and the slots run out.
- Can you cover a team of us in the same hotel?
- Yes, and send it as one message with the number of people, the rooms and the times. We will send enough therapists to cover the group rather than have one person work through everybody in sequence, which takes all evening. Three or four to one hotel needs a bit more notice.
- How much notice should I give?
- An hour if you can, and more during an exhibition week. Notice matters more here than almost anywhere because it decides whether we route somebody already working in the east of the city or send her from the middle of it, and that is a twenty minute difference.
- Is near Mega Bangna enough of an address?
- Not quite. The malls work well as landmarks because there are only two of them and they are enormous, but near Mega Bangna covers a very large area including several hotels and a number of housing developments. Send the building name as well.
- I live in a housing estate out here. What do you need?
- The estate name, the lane, the house number and one physical detail such as the gate colour, plus a pin if you have one. The guard at the entrance will ring the house before letting a visitor through, so keep your phone with you around the arrival window.
- Is it quicker late at night?
- Noticeably. After ten the highway and the Sukhumvit approach both clear, and the estimate improves. It is the same pattern as the whole eastern half of the city: late is faster, and the evening peak is the window to avoid.
Near Bang Na
Bearing
The provincial boundary. Big houses, low rents, and the longest run we make.
Udom Suk
Suburban Thai Bangkok. Wide roads, family houses, and almost no visitors at all.
Punnawithi
Built around True Digital Park. The one outer district with a real daytime working population of its own.
On Nut
The first affordable stop, and thousands of condo units stacked around one station.
Sukhumvit
The road, not a district. Fifteen kilometres of it, so the soi number decides everything.
