Hua Lamphong is the great domed railway station on Rama 4, and the MRT stop underneath it sits at the eastern edge of Chinatown.

It is worth being accurate about what the station now is. Long-distance services moved to Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal in January 2023, and what remains here are commuter and tourism routes. Guidebooks describing it as the main terminus are out of date.

For a booking the useful thing is the position rather than the trains. This is the closest metro stop to the eastern end of Yaowarat and the top of Charoen Krung, both of which are lanes rather than roads, so the last part of the journey is usually walked.

This page is about the station

It covers the exits, the interchange and what sits inside a short walk, which is what you want if you are standing on the platform working out whether we reach you.

For the district itself, the buildings in it and how a booking actually works around here, Yaowarat is the longer read and the more useful one.

Questions

Do I give you the station or the address?
The address, always. The station is useful to us for working out the route and the timing, but a therapist needs a building to walk to. Send both and the estimate we give you will be the one that happens.
Is this still the main railway station?
No, and it is a common misunderstanding. Long-distance services moved to Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal in January 2023. Commuter and tourism routes still use Hua Lamphong, and the building itself remains open, but a sleeper to Chiang Mai does not leave from here any more.
I am staying in Chinatown. Anything I should send?
The lane, a fixed landmark such as a temple or a well-known shop, and a pin. Yaowarat is the one district where we ask for all three, because the lanes are old, frequently unnamed and the house numbering is not sequential.
