SO/ Bangkok stands at the corner of North Sathorn and Rama 4, directly across from Lumphini Park and roughly three minutes on foot from Lumphini MRT. The park frontage makes it one of the easier buildings on this road to describe to a driver.
The property was previously branded Sofitel So Bangkok. If you booked under the old name you are in the right place, since the hotel is the same building at the same address and only the branding changed.
Three minutes from Lumphini MRT is about as close as a Bangkok hotel gets to a station without being attached to one. The approach is along Rama 4 at the corner of the park, which is a wide and well-lit walk at any hour, and the estimate here is among the steadier ones we publish for the Sathorn side.

What SO/ Bangkok books most
Ordered by what people here actually choose, rather than by our menu. Every one is worked on your own bed with sheets and oil the therapist brings with her.
Aromatherapy massage
The same slow work as an oil massage, with a scented blend chosen for what you need. Lemongrass to wake up, lavender to sleep. Most people book this one at night.
DetailsDeep tissue massage
Slower and heavier than an oil massage, aimed at the knots underneath rather than the surface. Say the word at any point and she eases off.
DetailsTraditional Thai massage
Stretching and acupressure along the body's energy lines, worked through clothing without oil. Firm, and on tight muscles it can smart. Worked on your bed, so there is nothing to clear.
DetailsRelaxing oil massage
Long, even strokes with warm unscented oil. The most straightforward thing on the menu, and the one to pick if you simply want the tension gone.
DetailsWhat we do not tell you about this hotel
We are not connected to SO/ Bangkok in any way. It is named here as somewhere we travel to, which is the only claim this page makes about it.
That means we do not publish its visitor policy, and we would treat anyone who did with some suspicion. Whether an in-room treatment is permitted is the hotel’s decision, it can change without notice, and reception will answer it in about ten seconds. Nor do we describe the rooms, since we have no way to verify what is in them.
What we can tell you is on this page: where the building is, how to reach it, how long we take to get there and what it costs.
More about Sathorn
Embassies, corporate towers and the densest run of five-star rooms in Bangkok.
Read the Sathorn pageQuestions
- What do you need from me to book?
- The hotel name, your room number and a phone number that works in Thailand. That is the whole of it. Everything else, including the oil and fresh linen, arrives with the therapist.
- Is this the same hotel as Sofitel So Bangkok?
- Yes. The property rebranded to SO/ Bangkok and the building, the address and the location are unchanged. Older listings and booking confirmations still carry the previous name.
- I run in Lumphini Park. Should I book differently?
- Ask for deep tissue and say you want it on the legs. Almost everyone else in this district asks for neck and shoulders, so without that instruction she will reasonably assume the same. A few hours after the run beats immediately afterwards.
